The Sandton Yoga Lounge is offering a combined 100-hour Yin/Restorative Yoga teacher training course (each 50-hour course is also bookable separately). Restorative Yoga is a restful practice during which yoga poses are held for a longer duration using props like yoga blocks, blankets and bolsters. It is a practice of deep relaxation that emphasises the meditative aspect of yoga – the union of body and mind. While Yin and Restorative Yoga are similar, there are subtle differences which will be explored in this course.
Topics covered:
– The concept of Restorative Yoga
– How to teach restorative asanas, including variations, benefits and corrections
– How to use props effectively
– How to create deep relaxation classes for busy and stressed people
– Expand your teaching knowledge and experience!

Yin Yoga is a very slow, meditative practice which gives you the opportunity to turn inward and tune into both your mind and the physical sensations of your body. The poses are held for longer and focus on your deep connective tissues, i.e., your fascia, ligaments, joints and bones.

– What is Yin Yoga?
– The history of Yin Yoga
– When to practise Yin Yoga
– The three principles of Yin Yoga
– Introduction to meridian theory
– The anatomy of yin
– Yin asanas
– Creative Yin Yoga sequencing
