Yin Yoga For Summer Workshop

In this workshop we will focus on healing the heart and balancing that internal fire within, covering:

• A brief history of yin yoga and the significance of summer in our yin yoga practice

• Cleansing the physical and energetic bodies: yin yoga postures that target the heart and small intestine meridians as well as breathing techniques to encourage physical relaxation and to ensure increased energy flow

• Cleansing the mental and emotional bodies: affirmations, reflective questions for contemplation and yoga nidra – a meditation technique to instil a deep sense of relaxation on all levels

WHAT IS YIN YOGA?

Yin yoga is a passive, gentle, introspective and restorative style of yoga, where all postures are done down on the mat and are are held between 2 to 5 minutes using props for support. Yin yoga opens up the deep connective tissues of the body, helps release the fascia, increases circulation, improves flexibility, improves joint mobility and increases energy flow. Longer holds allow for a more meditative practice, giving time to turn inward to calm and balance the mind and body.

Remember to bring:
Your own yoga mat (if you don’t have one, let us know and we will organise one for you!)
Pillow and blanket for extra comfort
Notepad/ paper and pen for journaling exercises
